Flint River Ranch – Main Ingredients

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Flint River Ranch provides a variety of natural dog food and natural cat food.  Their quality natural ingredients help to ensure your dog or cat lives a long and healthy life.

Flint River Ranch Main Ingredients

Meats – Their mix of proteins and amino acids are the foundation for your pet’s body and immune system.  They use meat meal, which is where excess water is removed from ground meat.  The meats they use are muscle and skin flesh only, and are considered to be “human-quality.”

Chicken – Their chicken is bought from American sources and are hormone and antibiotic free.

Lamb – Their lamb is imported from New Zealand as is easier to digest.

Fish – Flint River Ranch gets most of their fish from the ocean.  There are some fish that are farm raised, but the Bonita and Menhaden is from the ocean.

Grains – The grains come from American suppliers.  They are free of natural toxins and molds, according to the testing and certifications done to ensure this.

Wheat – They use selected parts of the wheat berry as the base grain.

Corn – Corn is not used in the dog’s food, as dog’s have a hard time digesting it.  However, it is a good source of carbohydrates, fiber, and energy for cats.  The trick is to prepare it properly.  Flint River Ranch uses a pre-digestive process, where they can give your cat the benefits without affecting your cat’s digestive system.

Rice – They use white and brown rice.

Vitamins and Minerals – Their products are naturally preserved.

Flint River Ranch is an excellent food for your pet, and has amazing health benefits.

Be Careful When Choosing a Commercial Weight Loss Pet Food

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

According to a study by the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, commercial weight loss pet food may actually contain more calories than you expect.  In fact, in a study of 100 commercial weight management pet foods, more than half of the food that was evaluated exceeded the maximum kilocalorie per kilogram restriction.

Foods that say they are light, lite, or low-calorie must provide the calorie content on the labels.  Pet foods that do not have this designation are allowed to include the information, but they are not required.

Another issue found in this Jan. 2010 study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association was the high variability in feeding recommendations for weight loss.   In the study, with the feeding recommendations on the labels, pets could not lose weight and some could actually gain weight.

Choosing an all natural diet for your pet is the best route to go.  All natural pet foods do not contain preservatives or chemicals that can harm your pet.   A reputable all natural pet food, such as Life’s Abundance or Flint River Ranch, will be honest with its label information, and will ensure your pet is receiving the best all natural pet food available for weight loss.

Pet Food Café is here to help you raise a healthy and happy pet so you can enjoy life together for a very long time.  Our all natural pet food, all natural pet supplies, and training tips will ensure your dog or cat has the best life possible.

How Can you Afford NOT to Feed your Pet All Natural?

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Your pet deserves the best life possible.  While feeding your pet all natural pet food may seem to be outrageously expensive initially, it is important to understand that in the long run, feeding your pet all natural pet food can actually save you money.

You may be wondering how that could be possible when it costs so much for a bag of all natural pet food.  Let’s take a more in depth look.  When you feed your pet healthy pet food, you will feed him almost 20% to 40% less than a store brand pet food.  How is this possible?  It is simple.  All natural healthy pet food is not made up of fillers and by-products.  Therefore, your pet will become fuller and stay fuller longer with less food.

Another savings is the fact that feeding your pet all natural healthy pet food will likely lower the amount of vet visits.  Allergies are the #1 reason for vet visits.  Commercial brand pet foods have chemicals and preservatives that many pets are allergic to.  These same ingredients can lead to very serious health issues, including death.

Your pet deserves the best.  Imagine if your pet could be with you years longer just because of the food you feed him?  Remember, it all evens out in the end as far as money, but his life expectancy will not even out.  The facts are when you feed your pet a healthy food, you could be extending the years he has to spend with you. How can you afford NOT to feed him an all natural healthy diet?

Pet Food Café is here to help you raise a healthy and happy pet so you can enjoy life together for a very long time.  Our all natural pet food, all natural pet supplies, and training tips will ensure your dog or cat has the best life possible.

Help your Pet Lose Weight through Spoiling

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Is it hard to turn down those puppy dog eyes or the cute little purr of your cat?   Of course it is!  Guess what?  You don’t have to completely give up spoiling your furry friend.  The key is to find an all natural pet food and all natural treat that will make your cat or dog feel like he is being spoiled.

Try adding a little bit of canned all natural pet food to your pet’s dry food.  This will really make them feel like they are special.  The point is that you can still spoil your dog or cat without throwing him fattening and unhealthy table food scraps.

Table food scraps are dangerous for your dog or cat and can make him gain weight.  Weight gain can lead to many more serious diseases, such as:  heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, respiratory and cancer.

Make sure your pet gets a lot of exercise.  This does not have to be boring.  By simply taking the time to play with him, you will be helping him to lose weight and maintain that healthy weight.
So, you see, you do not have to give up on spoiling your pet.  Simply take care in what you are spoiling him with.  However, just because you are feeding him all natural does not mean you should go overboard.  Sparingly give your pet an all natural treat and he will feel extra special each time!

Pet Food Café is here to help you raise a healthy and happy pet so you can enjoy life together for a very long time.  Our all natural pet food, all natural pet supplies, and training tips will ensure your dog or cat has the best life possible.

Protect your Pet’s Immune System with All Natural Pet Food

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Just like in humans, pets can suffer from many diseases and illnesses from a weakened or compromised immune system.  Some of these diseases could be irreversible.   Feeding your pet an all natural dog food or an all natural cat food could help prevent your pet from suffering the following diseases due to a weakened immune system.

  • Cancer
  • Colds and flu
  • Bacterial infections and viruses (recurrent)
  • Slow healing wound
  • Allergies
  • Respiratory inflammations
  • Diabetes
  • Aging
  • Fungal disease
  • Parasites

These are just a few diseases that could be prevented if your pet has a strong immune system.  How can you be assured your pet has a healthy immune system?  Consider the food you are feeding him.  Store brand dog foods do not only contain chemicals and preservatives that could be the cause of many of these diseases, but they also lack necessary nutrients that all natural healthy pet food contains.

Give your pet the “best life possible” and the healthiest life you can by feeding him all natural pet food and eliminating the chemicals he gets through commercial brand food.  Your pet will thank you by remaining healthy and happy for many years to come.

Pet Food Café is here to help you raise a healthy and happy pet so you can enjoy life together for a very long time.  Our all natural pet food, all natural pet supplies, and training tips will ensure your dog or cat has the best life possible.

Preventing and Treating Frostbite in Cats and Dogs

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

This is the time of year to protect your dog or cat from frostbite.  Generally, frostbite will occur in the exposed extremities in your cat or dog, especially the tail, paws, and ears.    It is important to keep your dog or cat indoors as much as possible during the freezing temperatures.  Make sure to take into consideration the wind chill, as this is the temperature that it really feels like to your dog or cat.

How can you tell if your dog or cat has frostbite?  The frozen extremities will look pale and cold.  They will likely separate from the underlying tissues.  There could be pain and swelling, blisters, and skin ulcers.

What can you do for your pet if there are signs of frostbite?   Wrap your pet in a towel or blanket.  Put warm water bottles or some other source of heat between your pet and the towel.  This will restore his/her core body temperature.  Warning!  Do not burn your pet.

If you will not be able to make it to the veterinarian immediately, you can bathe the frozen parts in warm water until the color of pink is restored.  Get to the veterinarian as soon as possible to find out if there are any long term effects from the frostbite.

One way to help to prevent your pet from suffering from frostbite is to provide a healthy all natural dog or cat food that will provide the nutrients necessary for good circulation.  Good circulation to the extremities will help to keep the blood flowing to these parts to help prevent frostbite.

Remember to keep your pets inside during the extreme cold.    It is important to allow your pet’s paws to toughen up gradually as the cold weather arrives.  However, even the toughest paws can only stand so much cold.  Get your dog or cat out and in as soon as you can to prevent frostbite.

Pet Food Café is here to help you raise a healthy and happy pet so you can enjoy life together for a very long time.  Our all natural pet food, all natural pet supplies, and training tips will ensure your dog or cat has the best life possible.

Natural Pet Food can help to Prevent Painful Gingivitis in Cats and Dogs

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

People are not the only ones who can experience the painful gum disease, Gingivitis.  Cats and dogs are also susceptible when their gums and teeth are not properly taken care of.  Many people do not take the time to care for their pet’s teeth.  It is just something people do not think to do until there is a problem.

When you think of the reason dogs or cats get Gingivitis, one of the main reasons you probably think of is brushing their teeth.  This is a common reason, but another very common reason is poor nutrition.  Traditional dog and cat foods contain sugars and refined carbohydrates, saturated fats, a lot of salt, and wheat, all of which can lead to Gingivitis.  All natural pet food can help to prevent this painful disease because it contains the vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal dental health.  All natural pet food lacks the artificial flavorings and other unnecessary ingredients found in commercial brand pet food.

How can you tell if your cat or dog ahs Gingivitis?  While a common symptom for Gingivitis is red and swollen gums, you cannot definitively determine this is Gingivitis as this is a symptom of many other diseases.  If you suspect Gingivitis, it is important to contact your pet’s veterinarian.

Preventing Gingivitis is the best thing you can do for your pet.  Simple steps can be taken to ensure a healthy life for your pet.  Brush your pet’s teeth by wiping the tartar buildup each day.  Try using an all natural daily liquid that can go right into your pet’s water.  You can find this on our website.

The next best thing you can do to prevent Gingivitis is to switch to an all natural pet food.  Your pet will be healthy overall and will love you for the yummy all natural treats that are available!
Christmas is just around the corner!  Visit our website for a variety of gift baskets for your dog or cat!
