The “sit” command is the most basic dog obedience command. This simple dog obedience command could be what keeps your dog out of trouble. The goal is to get your dog to sit on the floor with your head looking up at you when you say the word, “sit.”
At this point of dog obedience training, your dog should know and respond to his name. With a clear and calm voice, call your dog by his name. Show your dog that all natural treat he loves and make sure you have plenty on hand.
With your dog in a standing position, hold the treat close to his nose, and then move it to just above his head, while moving the treat backwards slowly. Your dog will automatically bend his leg.
